Neck Stretches

Neck stretches are important for the flexibility and range of motion of the neck and shoulder muscles. Good neck flexibility allows for the unrestricted and pain free movement of the head and neck.
Lateral Neck Stretch

Look forward while keeping your head up. Slowly move your ear towards your shoulder while keeping your hands behind your back. Keep your shoulders down and your hands behind your back. Don’t lift your shoulders up when you tilt your head to the side. Hold the stretch position for a minimum of 20 seconds and then repeat on the opposite side. Rotate your shoulders and relax.
Rotating Neck Stretch

Stand upright while keeping your shoulders still and your head up. Slowly rotate your chin towards your shoulder. Keep your head up. Don’t let your chin fall towards your shoulders. Hold the stretch position for a minimum of 20 seconds and then repeat on the opposite side. Rotate your shoulders and relax.
Flexion and Extension Neck Stretch

Stand upright and let your chin fall forward towards your chest. Relax your shoulders and keep your hands by your side. Some people are more flexible in the upper back and neck than others. Don’t over stretch by forcing your head down, instead, relax and let the weight of your head do the stretching for you. Hold the stretch position for a minimum of 20 seconds and then slowly move into the neck extension stretch position.Stand upright and slowly lift your head, looking upwards as if trying to point up with your chin. Relax your shoulders and keep your hands by your side. Keep your mouth closed and your teeth together when doing this stretch. Rotate your shoulders and relax
